Widespread use of electronic invoicing: 2024 implementation postponed

July 28th the French Tax Administration announced that the generalization of the e-invoicing will be delayed. Initially planned to start in July 2024, this major fiscal reform is delayed.

The aim of this reform is to :

  • boost business competitiveness by reducing administrative burdens and boosting productivity through dematerialization;
  • ultimately simplify their VAT reporting obligations, thanks to pre-filled returns;
  • improve the fight against fraud, to the benefit of bona fide economic operators and fair competition;
  • improve real-time knowledge of the business economy.

This is part of France’s overall digitalization plan.
